Storing your tools well and in an organised way can extend their life and is good workplace practice for you and your employees. Keeping tools out of direct sun in the middle of summer, away from the rain in winter any other elements including general debris from the job site will help ensure that the tool does not deteriorate quicker than it should.
Having a system for a quick inspection of the tool before it is put away helps identify if the tools needs any maintenance or repair, and also saves you from frustration when picking up the tool next time if it’s not in a good working order. See our guide for quick tips on maintaining your tool in our July article. If you have new or younger employees, ensure that they know and understand the tool, it’s purpose and function, how it is to be handled safely, and an awareness of it’s limitations. Safety is a priority.
